Laparoscopic Surgery

Although laparoscopic surgery is still new in the veterinary field, it is used extensively in human medicine. Dr. Aris Atakem was the first African-American to learn the technique back in 2007. Laparoscopic surgery is less invasive than traditional surgery, so many risks associated with traditional surgeries are reduced during laparoscopic procedures. With single-port laparoscopic procedures, your pet will experience:

  • Decreased pain
  • Reduced tissue trauma
  • Decreased risk of infection
  • Faster recovery and, subsequently, a shorter hospital stay

Laparoscopic surgery can be used for a wide variety of procedures, including but not limited to:

  • Ovariohysterectomy (spay)
  • Cryptorchidism (retained testicle)
  • Gastropexy (stomach tack)
  • Cystotomy (bladder surgery)
  • Organ biopsy

Our goal is to be a leading provider of laparoscopic procedures in the North Denver metro area, so please do not hesitate to ask us more about how your pet can benefit from laparoscopic surgery.
